P3 has been supporting people since 1972. We work with young people, families and individuals across England, supporting them to address homelessness, housing instability, mental ill-health and social exclusion.
We are a registered charity (regulated by the Charity Commission of England and Wales) and we passionately believe that everyone has potential and deserves to live a happy, fulfilling life as a valued member of the community in which they live.
Our programmes, places and spaces are collaboratively developed with the people who use them. Through our People Shaping P3 team, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in feedback sessions, surveys and ‘mystery shopping’ to help improve your P3 service. We encourage everyone to share their experience of P3 so we can continue to develop and improve our services and approach, and you can also share feedback informally with your support worker or any P3 staff member.

Mansfield and Ashfield Young Parents Service provides housing for 15 young parents or families at a time. Each young person or family has their own self contained home, and we are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The homes are situated across Mansfield and Ashfield districts.
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by one of the team and introduced to your support worker, who will work closely with you during your stay. While you have an assigned support worker, remember that everybody at Mansfield and Ashfield Young Parents Service can and will support you on a day-to-day basis.
When you arrive at Mansfield and Ashfield Young Parents Service, you will be given a key to your own self contained home. For your safety and security, please do not give your key to anyone else.
All homes have a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. Homes are part furnished and include most of the things you need for a comfortable stay. You can bring your own television, but please to speak to a member of the team for help with buying a television licence.
You’ll have weekly, planned catch ups with your support worker to discuss the goals agreed in your support plan. Speak to your support worker if you’d like your catch-ups to be more frequent.
At your catch-ups, you and your support worker will review your support plan and discuss your aims, goals and any concerns you have. Other services that support you – such as social services, CAMHS, probation officer, teacher or family – may attend some meetings.
If you can’t make a scheduled support session, let your support worker know and we’ll rearrange for a more convenient time.
You can expect to receive support with:
Your welfare is our top priority. We promise to:
You have the right to read the information in your personal files. If you think that any of the information is incorrect, you can add comments to your file, but you cannot alter or delete any previous entries.
Please speak to your support worker if you’d like to view your personal file. Click here to read our Young Peoples Services privacy statement.
If you are not happy with any part of the service you receive at P3, you have a right to complain and we encourage you to report concerns or dissatisfaction to any P3 staff member.
We aim to address complaints quickly and informally, but if your complaint cannot be resolved this way, you’ll be supported to make a formal complaint and access advocacy, if required.

P3 also provides complaints awareness for young people – speak to your support worker for more details.
If you would like to speak directly to the Registered Service Manager, please email Tracey.McAndrews@p3charity.org to arrange a meeting.
Your property has a smoke alarm and the core building, The Twitchell, has a fire alarm system. If a fire occurs, the alarm will sound. If you hear the fire alarm, you must exit the building immediately using the nearest safe exit. Your support worker will talk with you about what the fire action process is in your self contained home.
Unless you have been told by staff that the fire alarm system is being tested, assume this is a genuine fire emergency and exit the building immediately. Fire Alarms will be tested as part of our regular health and safety checks.
If you hear the fire alarm at The Twitchell building:
There is a fire alarm test every Saturday afternoon. During the test, you’ll hear a short ringing of the alarm (usually less than one minute). It’s important that you are always ready to leave the building on hearing the alarm, so please follow staff instructions if you’re asked to evacuate during the usual test time.
Green signs mark all fire exits

To keep you safe, we carry out regular health and safety checks, including building and room checks. The team will let you know when these checks will take place.
During checks, a member of the P3 team will need access to your home to make sure there are no risks to your wellbeing. Checks usually take no more than five minutes.
At The Twitchell, CCTV cameras are in use 24 hours a day and are located by the entry gate and within the courtyard. The system is there to promote the safety and wellbeing of everyone. Click here for more information on how P3 uses CCTV.
To help us maintain the condition of the property, please report any faults or breakages to a member of staff. Staff and contractors may occasionally need access to your home to repair faults or breakages.
All tenants must respect the home and the property in it. If you cause intentional damage, you will be charged for the cost of repairs.
While you have a self contained home, you may be sharing the outdoor space with other people. To help everyone feel safe and comfortable, all residents must follow the House Expectations. You can find a copy of these in your Tenancy Agreement, or ask a member of staff.
House Expectations are occasionally reviewed and you’ll have an opportunity to give your input.
Please note that all properties are no smoking – including vapes – and e-scooters cannot be charged on site.
We celebrate the fact that the team at P3 and the people we support are from all different cultures and backgrounds and with a variety of life experiences, and we believe in equal opportunities and strive to create an environment that feels safe and welcoming to all residents, staff and visitors.
We have zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment or abuse – including racism; sexism; language that is homophobic or discriminates against someone’s abilities, mental health, age, religion or culture; and physical, psychological, sexual and financial abuse and neglect – and we challenge inappropriate language and behaviour, regardless of where it originates.
You have a right to live free of harassment, discrimination and abuse, including bullying or any language or behaviour that leaves you feeling unsafe or uncomfortable.
Harassment, discrimination and abuse of others is a breach of your Tenancy Agreement. We take all complaints of discrimination and harassment seriously and investigate all complaints of this nature.
If you have experienced harassment, discrimination or abuse while at P3, our team will help you to report this and will keep you informed of any action we take.
Your Tenancy Agreement (TA) is a contract between you and P3, setting out your right to live in P3’s supported accommodation. It states your responsibility to pay accommodation charges and service charges, until we give you notice to leave or you choose to leave. There are detailed clauses in your TA that state exactly what you can and can’t do, as well as what P3 can and can’t do.
When you join Mansfield and Ashfield Young Parents Service, you will sign the TA. The contract tells you:
Based on your financial circumstances, your rent payment may be paid for by Social Services or Housing Benefit. Your P3 support worker will help you to complete an application form soon after you move in.
You may be required to pay a weekly ‘ineligible charge’, which is not covered by the Housing Benefit payment. This charge contributes towards your rent costs and covers things like heating, hot water, electric and water rates. All payments you make to P3 are recorded on your personal rent account.
Depending on what benefits you receive, you may, also have to pay a personal contribution towards your rent costs. This contribution will be estimated when you move in.
While you may have to contribute towards your housing costs, the support you receive from your support worker is paid for by Nottinghamshire County Council. Note, though, that P3 is an independent charity and not part of Social Services.
P3 is committed to offering you the best possible support and advice, and to do this, we constantly review and monitor the way we work and how we deliver our services.
Our People Shaping P3 Team also operates a ‘People Board’, which is a formal group that feeds into P3’s main Board of Trustees, which is responsible for the overall management of the charity.
There are lots of ways to make sure your feedback about P3’s services is heard:
People Shaping P3 offers training to help you get involved, as well as a rewards programme for taking part. Just some of the ways to get involved include:
When you move into Mansfield and Ashfield Young Parents Service, you’ll be supported to register with a GP and dentist, if needed.
You will need to take personal responsibility for any prescribed medications and ensure they remain safely stored in your own home. Please discuss any concerns you may have about your medications with your support worker.
It is against your TA to use or supply illegal substances in the building or grounds. This includes sharing, selling and giving illegal drugs or prescription medications to others.
If you need support with substance misuse or have questions or concerns related to drug or alcohol use, please speak to your support worker, who can help you get support from specialist drugs and alcohol services.
