Leaving a charitable gift in your will is an incredible way to look after the community that matters to you.
Leaving a gift in your will to P3 Charity allows you to continue supporting our work and leave a lasting legacy in your community. Every gift, no matter the size, will make a vital contribution to our important work with people all across the UK who need our support.

Leaving a gift in your will to P3 Charity can be highly tax efficient, creating inheritance tax relief that reduces the tax burden your family members or loved ones face.
If you give at least 10% of your taxable estate to charity, the inheritance tax threshold lowers, and the rate on the rest of your estate drops from 40% to 36%. If you already plan to leave a charitable gift in your will, increasing the gift to 10% of the value of your estate means that both the charity and your beneficiaries receive more.*
Your solicitor can advise further you on how leaving a gift can reduce inheritance tax.

Residuary: a percentage or all of what’s left of the value of your estate after your loved ones have been taken care of
Pecuniary: a specific sum of money
Specific: an item such as jewellery or art
The advantage of leaving a residuary gift is that it stays the same over time and you won’t need to change your will to keep up with inflation or personal circumstances.
We encourage you to leave a gift without restrictions so we can use it as needed to best support the changing needs of local children, young people and families, but we welcome gifts given to specific services or regions.
If you choose to include a gift to the P3 Charity, there may not be a need to rewrite your current will. You can ask a qualified legal professional such as a solicitor to add an amendment, otherwise known as a ‘codicil’. As a general rule, if the change is small or simple, you can use a codicil, and if the change is more significant or complex, they may suggest you make a new will.
For smaller charitable donations or less complex wills, sometimes even a ‘Letter of Wishes’ is enough to ensure that P3 Charity is supported well into the future.
The suggested legal wording below will assist your solicitor in writing or amending your will to include your gift in support of our vital work.

If you don’t already have a legal adviser to help you draft or update your will, you can find one through the The Law Society, who can provide details of solicitors in your area, including those who specialise in wills. We always recommend that your will is drafted by a qualified professional such as a solicitor, as their businesses are regulated by law.
