Role Title: Allotment Volunteer
Location: Swanwick, Derbyshire
Time Commitment: 6 hours per week (flexible)
Role Overview:
We’re looking for a passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer to join us as an volunteer to help run our community allotment project in Swanwick, Derbyshire.
As an Allotment Volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the smooth running of P3’s allotment-based therapeutic project. Based in the Derbyshire countryside on the edge of Swanwick, this hub uses nature to nurture health, happiness and social connection. You’ll support participants to engage with gardening and nature-based activities that promote mental wellbeing in a relaxed, inclusive setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build positive relationships with individuals attending the allotment hub.
- Help create a welcoming, safe and supportive environment for participants.
- Support individuals to increase their confidence and knowledge of gardening and nature-based activities.
- Promote good health and safety practices throughout all activities.
- Encourage social interaction and participation within the group.
- Assist staff with general administrative tasks such related to the gardening project, such as evaluations and meeting minutes.

- Interest or basic knowledge of horticulture, nature or sustainability (no formal experience needed).
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Adaptable, flexible and able to work well as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual and committed to supporting others.
- Commitment to upholding P3’s values and policies.
- No formal qualifications required – an enthusiasm for nature and a desire to help others is most important.
- A DBS check will be required.
