Role Title: Older People’s Hub Volunteer
Location: East Cambridgeshire, Fenland and Huntingdonshire
Time Commitment: Individual commitment based on your availability
Duration: 2–3 hours per session
Role Overview:
We’re looking for a compassionate, dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer to join us as an Older People’s Hub Volunteer across East Cambridgeshire, Fenland and Huntingdonshire.
As an Older People’s Hub Volunteer, you’ll support the Hub Navigator in facilitating community hub sessions for older people, helping to create a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
You will play an important role in reducing social isolation, supporting access to services and helping older people feel confident and comfortable when attending the hub.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome people attending the hub in a friendly and approachable manner.
- Offer warm drinks where available.
- Show visitors where to sit and help them feel at ease.
- Provide leaflets and information about the service.
- Inform the Hub Navigator when people are waiting to be seen.
- Support the Hub Navigator during hub sessions.
- Help with setting up and taking down hub materials before and after sessions.
- Signpost people to other relevant services where appropriate.
- Support referrals into the Tier Two Older People’s Service through the portal.
- Attend community events to help promote the service as needed.

- Friendly, open and non-judgemental attitude
- Some basic IT skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, flexible and willing to complete training
- Commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment
- Willingness to complete a DBS check
No formal experience is required – just a genuine desire to support older people and engage with your local community.
