Role Overview:
We’re looking for a passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer to join our Street Outreach Team working in Huntingdon, East Cambridge and South Cambridge as a Street Outreach Volunteer.
As a Street Outreach Volunteer, you will work alongside Outreach Workers who support individuals who are homeless or rough sleeping. You’ll help with practical and emotional support, assisting individuals with accessing accommodation, health services, and drug or alcohol treatment. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference within your local community while gaining valuable experience in support work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help the Outreach Team to identify individuals who are sleeping rough.
- Help the Outreach Team to signpost individuals to access drug, alcohol and health treatment services.
- Complete visits alongside a support worker.
- Work alongside the Outreach Team to provide compassionate, person-centred support.
- Build positive, professional relationships with the people being supported.
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and uphold safeguarding practices at all times.
What We’re Looking For:
- A genuine desire to help others and empathy towards people experiencing homelessness.
- Commitment, patience and reliability.
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Friendly, approachable and non-judgemental attitude.
- Commitment to upholding P3’s values and safeguarding practices.
Applicants must be aged 18 or over. A DBS check will be required for the role. A driving licence would be beneficial but is not essential.
