Time Commitment: Flexible, but minimum one hour per week

Role Overview:

We’re looking for a passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer to join us as a Volunteer Walking Buddy in Warwickshire.

As a Volunteer Walking Buddy, you’ll organise walks to provide positive support and companionship to individuals in recovery from addiction. You’ll promote mental and physical wellbeing, reduce isolation and foster a sense of community through regular, informal walking meetups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Walk with people we support to provide friendly, non-judgmental support.
  • Engage in casual, respectful conversation, creating a safe space for connection.
  • Encourage physical activity as a tool for recovery and wellness.
  • Be mindful of participants’ emotional states and offer empathetic support.
  • Set a comfortable pace and be open to taking breaks when needed.
  • Communicate any concerns to staff in a timely and confidential way.
  • Adhere to all guidelines regarding privacy, boundaries and safety.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Empathetic, patient and non-judgmental.
  • Comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
  • Able to walk for moderate distances at a gentle pace.
  • Good listener and supportive communicator.
  • Reliable and consistent; able to commit to scheduled walk times.
  • Lived experience with recovery is welcomed, but not required.

What We Offer:

  • Training and Development: Opportunities to build skills and knowledge, including a full induction and training on safeguarding, professional boundaries and addiction sensitivity.
  • Supportive Team: Work alongside a passionate and motivated team with a dedicated line manager and ongoing support from our Volunteering Department, including access to regular check-ins and optional peer support sessions.
  • Experience and Networking: Gain valuable experience and connections.
  • Potential Opportunities: Pathways for future roles or employment within P3.
  • Expenses: Reimbursement of agreed travel or activity expenses.
