North East Derbyshire District Council has launched a new, integrated housing and support service, Supporting Our People, to improve outcomes for residents experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
The service has been developed in partnership with P3 Charity and Rykneld Homes LTD and represents a significant step forward in improving both the quality and accessibility of supported housing in the District.
The new service has been developed to address a range of challenges identified within North East Derbyshire, including limited access to provision, delays in referrals, and repeated cycles of homelessness for some individuals whose needs were not fully met.
Supporting Our People introduces a locally controlled, person-centred model that combines accommodation with tailored support.
The Council has invested in improving the quality of supported housing in the district, including redevelopment of properties such as The Spinner (Formally The Spinning Wheel pub) in North Wingfield, now repurposed into safe, high-quality accommodation with on-site support being based in the building.
In the coming days members of the community will be invited to meet the supporting our people team and to learn how the service works and the types of support offered.
