Local Derbyshire families supported by P3 Charity have welcomed the new year with joy, thanks to the generosity of National Grid and their donation of Christmas gifts. Supporting families in need, National Grid donated 127 toys, 30 boxes of chocolates and 18 pairs of pyjamas, which P3 distributed across our Derbyshire family services.

Like many people in the UK right now, the families we support in our P3 Wellbeing and Mental Health services in Derbyshire are facing significant cost-of-living pressures, intensified by the financial demands of Christmas. That’s where National Grid stepped in: They donated toys, chocolate boxes and pyjamas to families with children aged one to 13 years, with the donated gifts helping families manage winter pressures while ensuring children could experience joy, comfort and a positive start to the new year.

Lauren Taylor, Manager from P3 Charity’s Bewell and Hoarding Services, said: “These donated gifts are so much more than presents: They are reminders to vulnerable children and families that someone cares. Because of National Grid’s kindness, Christmas this year will be brighter, and you will have made a real difference. Thank you from everyone at P3 Charity for helping us make a difference to the people we support this Christmas.”

In addition to their donations, National Grid team members volunteered alongside P3 colleagues to help wrap the gifts before they were handed out. The kindness of the National Grid team has made a crucial difference to the wellbeing of the children and families we support.

Emily Green, Volunteering and Sponsorship Coordinator at National Grid Electricity Distribution, said: “We’re proud to champion the incredible work of P3 Charity, supporting garden transformations and indoor decoration projects at their supported accommodations across the Midlands. Our colleagues are passionate about giving back through our employee volunteering program, and contributing during the festive season was especially meaningful. At National Grid, we’re committed to strengthening our communities and creating lasting impact – and we look forward to deepening our partnership with P3 in the year ahead.”

Lydia McHugh, P3 Charity’s Community Engagement Coordinator, added: “We are incredibly grateful to National Grid for their continued generosity and support. Donations like this make a real difference to the families we work alongside, helping to bring joy and comfort at a time of year that can be particularly challenging. Our ongoing partnership with National Grid allows us to support local families in meaningful and practical ways, and we are proud to continue working together to strengthen our communities.”

As we move into 2026, we want to thank National Grid for their ongoing generosity and valuable support. Through a yearlong partnership, we have managed to provide support to people in need, creating long-term impact on their wellbeing. We look forward to an ongoing partnership with National Grid and can’t wait to see the future change we create together.
