Tia Lewis, a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker with P3’s team in Cambridgeshire, climbed Mount Snowdon last weekend on the 20th of September, taking on more than just the challenge. Alongside raising awareness of P3’s work, Tia has raised £735 (so far!) to support Cambridgeshire’s mental health programmes.
Tia said: “I’m so pleased that I’ve been able to raise money for our service. Knowing that our support and effort can bring hope and independence to people facing a range of challenges means the world to me.”
At P3, we support people to unlock their potential and build brighter futures; Tia’s campaign and challenge has done just that, helping to fund the renovation of the communal spaces within one of P3’s supported accommodation services in Cambridgeshire.
These shared areas – including the garden, lounge and communal offices – are often the heart of the service, offering space to host breakfast clubs where residents can gather for a warm meal and a friendly chat, support sessions where people find a listening ear and social groups that help break the cycle of isolation that so often accompanies mental ill-health.
The funds Tia raised will help breathe new life into the garden, creating a calm outdoor space for reflection and connection and the communal lounge and office areas will be refreshed to encourage more people to come together, share a cup of tea, talk and build relationships — small moments that can make a huge difference to someone’s mental wellbeing.
Lydia McHugh, Community Engagement Co-ordinator for P3 Charity, added: “Campaigns like Tia’s are so important – not just because they raise vital funds, but because they shine a light on the incredible people we support and the challenges they face every day. It’s a powerful reminder that one person’s effort can have real impact, and we’re so proud of what Tia has accomplished for the people she supports every day.”
The renovation work is planned to begin this autumn, with the scale of improvements shaped by the generosity of those who supported Tia’s fundraising efforts, funding new furniture, fresh paint and upgrades that will be felt by every resident.
Tia’s achievement is a testament to the commitment shown by P3 colleagues across the country, who go above and beyond every day to support people experiencing mental health challenges, homelessness and social exclusion. By conquering Snowdon, Tia showed that when we come together as a community, we can help people face – and overcome – the challenges in their own lives.
