P3 Charity (People, Potential, Possibilities) has launched two new housing-related support services in partnership with Coventry City Council, continuing and expanded P3’s vital support across the city. As a leading national charity dedicated to transforming lives across the UK, P3 has been in Coventry since 2020, supporting more than 6878 local people.

The new services will be an addition to P3’s existing services, supporting individuals and families to find suitable accommodation, alongside receiving advice around employment, education, personal finances and benefits support.

More About the Services

Both services will provide housing-related support using P3’s tried and tested person-centred, holistic approach. This includes both one-off and longer-term support designed to improve access to support services and create long-term, sustainable change for people.

One service will support families and individuals over the age of 18, housing them through temporary accommodation provided by Coventry City Council, with support provided by P3 Charity. The other service will provide advice and practical support to families to help them maintain their existing homes, addressing any risks to homelessness such as arrears or ill mental health.

P3 Housing Support Service for Over 18s and Families in Temporary Accommodation

At any one time, this service will provide housing related support for up to 100 families and up to 150 individuals aged 18 and over and who have been placed in temporary accommodation by Coventry City Council. Each person or family supported by the service will have a dedicated P3 Support Worker throughout their stay in temporary accommodation and up to four weeks after moving on. Their support workers will create tailored, personalised housing support plans, including signposting to mental health or specialist services, where needed.

People being supported by P3 will have the opportunity to take part in weekly group activities facilitated by P3’s support workers, local volunteers and other peers. The goal of the service is to help people get back on their feet and develop the skills needed to maintain a tenancy once independently housed, while also focusing on community connection and self-growth.

P3 Housing Support Service for Families

This service will provide housing advice for up to 75 families at any one time, with support delivered through a network of in-person P3 Charity hubs and virtual support sessions to ensure families can access support in the way that works best for them.

Alongside this advice, some families will also receive ‘floating support’, where additional help is needed. Floating support is a flexible form of community-based support that helps people maintain their tenancy and improve stability, covering areas such as employment, personal budgeting and wellbeing.

Every family will have a dedicated P3 Support Worker who will work with them to create a tailored support plan, providing guidance through in-person appointments, as well as additional support in community-based settings, where appropriate.

Families being supported will be able to take part in group workshops on building a safe and stable home, with access to specialist workshops delivered by local support agencies for up to three months post discharge.

The service will follow a multi-agency approach that helps families learn essential skills across housing management, including building awareness of what organisations and agencies can support them.

Comments on the Opening of New Services

Amy Winter, Director of Adult Support Services for P3 Charity, commented:

“We’re really proud to be launching these new services in Coventry. By working closely with the City Council, we’ll continue to support people and families in their own homes and temporary accommodation with the tools, guidance and practical help they need to prevent homelessness and move forward with confidence. This is a meaningful step in strengthening early intervention and improving wellbeing for people across the city.”

Jim Crawshaw, Cllr Naeem Akhtar, Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities at Coventry City Council, said:

“We are pleased to be able to continue our work with P3 Charity. When people experience or face homelessness it is often a traumatic experience, that’s why its important they get the right support to help them maintain their wellbeing and help them to begin to get back on their feet and rebuild their lives.”

Each year P3 Charity supports over 81,000 people through a wide range of services, including housing support and mental health support delivered in partnership with the NHS.
