P3 Charity’s local homelessness support hub based in Buxton has relocated to 4 Bridge Street, Buxton SK17 6BS, from its previous address in Hardwick Mount. The move will enable P3 to continue providing vital support to local people experiencing or at risk of homelessness during an all-time high.

Nationally, 382,000 people were recorded as homeless in 2025, 11,578 of these people are based in the East MidlandsAlthough Derbyshire itself does not yet have a single published homelessness figure for 2025, local authorities report thousands of homelessness assessments annually, reflecting the ongoing housing need across the county – underscoring the need for local support services.

Based at the hub are P3’s Derbyshire Independent Living ServiceDerbyshire and Staffordshire Street Outreach, and the Bewell wellbeing service. Together, these services provide housing support for people aged 16 and over who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless. Additionally, the Bewell service focuses specifically on supporting people with mental ill-health and helping them connect with local support in their community.

Services provided, are:

  • Advice and signposting
  • Benefits advice
  • Education and employment advice
  • Housing advice
  • Homelessness prevention
  • Mental health support
  • Street Outreach
  • Supported housing

The move will ensure that people experiencing homelessness in Buxton and the surrounding High Peak area can continue to access vital, face-to-face support close to where they live. Playing a key role in providing advice, housing support and practical help to some of the town’s most vulnerable residents, the team are continuing to combat homelessness through localised support and multi-agency partnerships.

Tracey McAndrews, P3 Charity’s Head of Support and Community Services for the North of England, said: “Our hub here in Buxton is for everybody: people who need support for their mental health, people who are presenting as homeless, people who are seen daily by our outreach teams. In the High Peak, we’re in a rural area which is why this hub is so beneficial because every service is here in one place. All support is based around what people need, [our support] is very people orientated.”

Buxton Hub Grand Opening

The local community and P3 team came together to celebrate the opening of P3’s new hub, centrally located on Buxton high street it will create an easier pathway to support – bringing together P3’s Derbyshire Independent Living Service, Street Outreach and Bewell services.

The Mayor of High Peak Cllr Dom Elliott-Starkey attended the event alongside P3’s CEO, Mark Simms, to cut the ribbon of the new hub and give speeches celebrating the new location. Joined by people P3 supports, stakeholders and commissioners, local councillors and police, the event had a real community feel. It was a great opportunity to network with other local people and find out more about P3 Charity’s work within the area.

Cllr Dom Elliott-Starkey, Mayor of High Peak, commented, “It’s really important to have services like this in Buxton and across the region because there are so many people that need support. What [P3] offers is a holistic approach rather than a tick-box exercise, and what that means is more people get approached for support – to have this on our doorstep in Buxton is vital.”

This was echoed by Mark Simms, P3’s CEO, who added: “I’m pleased that all of teams across High Peak are in one place, meaning that people who need different kinds of support only have to come once to see the right people. Today [at the launch] we have been joined by loads of people across different agencies, which means we’re already seeing the hub at work.”

Directing his message to people in need of support, Mark adds, “If you’re struggling, come and have a brew with one of the people who work here. Don’t worry about what your problems are, just come and meet people – because whatever your problems are, they’ll probably be able to help. Our approach at P3 is no wrong door, so come in and we’ll find the right door for you.”
